Jake Greaves & James Wagner
This page includes college video based work Jake & James have submitted between 2019 & 2021 at Future Skills college. All units are from the Creative Media & TV Production Extended Diploma Level 3 course in the UK.
As 17-year-old Liam Watkins reminisces looking through old nostalgic family photos after his father’s tragic passing, he notices a candidly figure lurking in the background of each photograph. He dismisses the situation as he feels he is overwhelmed by the passing of his father. As he walks home from his friend's house, he notices this same figure in reality. When he arrives home, he looks back at the family photos to see she has now gone. A confused Liam receives a text message from his mother of a photo of him in his smart suit. As he pays close attention, he notices the same figure in the background leaving Liam mortified... Collectively as JSquared Films, we set out to create a horror/thriller short film as apart of our Creative Media coursework in our second year of college. Limited to the time and budget, as well as facing the limitations of a pandemic, we finished our project proud of what we managed in a short amount of time. This was our last piece of coursework for our two year college course and we are very proud of it. We hope you enjoy our short film!
Unit 16, based upon video editing, gave us the opportunity to carry out some necessary research to see how editing began and how it has evolved. We collected all the information we felt was necessary and collated it into this video we titled "The Development & Principal of Editing" which was the name task in the specific unit. We are happy with how it came out, with recording our voice overs in a radio studio to gain the highest quality.
Our first video created at college, long before JSquared Films was founded, seeded from a challenge of being given a one minute intense track by our college tutors, in which we had to create an intense video to feature adjacent to the track. With only an iPhone camera and basic editing skills (First ever week at college) we created the following. It stars Jake Greaves & James Wagner (Founders of JSquared) and Kieran Cheeseman who also attends Future Skills college.
James' final music video for unit 27 includes the grime artist Aitch from JSquared home town, Manchester. It consists of fast paced editing and snappy visual effects. It stars Jake Greaves, co- founder of JSquared Films.
Jake's music video submitted for unit 27 offers a storyline to follow with the intriguing track from ASAP Rocky. The story grabs the audience attention really routing for the protagonist. Conversely to James' video, it stars himself, co-founder of JSquared Films.
